Shudokan Black Belt Academy Aikido & Self-Defense Classes in Nottingham

Sam loves coming here! He’s only been coming here a couple of months but already understands that if he tries hard he can get better. He’s got his heart set on a black belt like his auntie. Sam is easily distracted and the teaching team is very good at keeping him on track during lessons! He often asks what he can do to get his next belt and we’ve loved his “quest to be the best” reward chart; it’s proved a great motivational tool at home!

Unbelievable instruction from first-class practitioners. I was allowed to visit and participate on a brief visit in Nottingham and was struck by the humility, patience and, holy cow, conciseness of the instruction from Matt and Ken-it will literally take me a year to wrap my head around every critique and point I received during a 2-hour session. It would be impossible to articulate my personal experience with any sort of brevity, but this will be my dojo of choice when I am able to continue my training. I look forward to visiting with you again -hopefully as a full-time student. 

My daughter has been attending for just over a year, she loves coming and has progressed a lot, the Senseis bring out the best in the little ones.

My son is really loving going and has tried harder at this than anything else ever. The difference already is more than I can put into words.

After not taking much interest in sport at school my son started Aikido at age 8 and took to it like a duck to water. The instructors are great and my son still loves going 2 years on. The academy is not only great for children though. After watching my son training for a few weeks, I loved the traditional nature of the teaching which resonated with my previous experience in another traditional Japanese martial art and I decided to take to the mat myself. No doubt my youngest will join us on the mat in the very near future! Great academy with great instructors which I can fully recommend.

Absolutely amazing, I was having so many issues with my youngest child and thank goodness I found the answer here. Through this academy my son found direction, focus and a total shift in his attitude took place. He learned respect and discipline while at the same time having fun and making friends! The instructors are fantastic and so welcoming despite my worries with my son; I am supported and feel valued by everyone there. Fantastic people and facilities in my opinion this academy is second to none!  

I can write pages in order to describe how professional and amazing Shudokan Black Belt Academy is, but the best way to find out, is by going there yourself. The trainers love their art, they are kind, friendly, extremely funny, patient and most importantly not arrogant (which is unusual, considering how cool they are). Each of them is different and unique but all of them are equally awesome. This dojo offers great value for money and I highly recommend it to everyone. So if you are willing to learn a very interesting and majestic martial art, learn how to protect yourself and become stronger both physically and mentally, look no further, this is the place for you.
